We hope everyone had a great summer vacation! We all have been very busy preparing for your return to CCD. This year, a total of 56 students (27 families) are registered with the Panna Maria CCD program. Our teachers have also been preparing for your return. A total of 10 classes form our CCD program this year. Kristi Janysek will be heading-up the Kindergarten class, while Veronica Patton instructs the first graders. Debbie Pawelek will prepare the 2nd graders for First Communion. Carolyn Janecek will lead the 3rd graders. The 4th and 5th graders will be instructed by Elaine Janysek. Dana Janysek will teach the 6th graders. Ron & Gwen Richter will take charge of the 7th grade class. Our 8th grade class will be instructed by Gary Janecek. Our confirmation class will be prepared for the Holy Spirit by Lisa Moczygemba, while our seniors will be guided by Betty Kowalik. CCD instruction will begin in the church at 6:15. We will practice hymns for 15 minutes before heading to our classes at 6:30.

We are looking forward to a great year. If you have any questions or concerns about our program, please do not hesitate to contact Father Mariusz Lazarek @ 830-299-1052, Velma Janysek @ 830- 299-0912, or Debbie Pawelek @ 210-414-5197.

Newsletter Changes
by Debbie Pawelek
Sorry this newsletter finds you so late in the month. We decided to combine two months into one newsletter, instead of one for each month as we did last year. Also, instead of handing out the newsletters to the children, we will be mailing them to your homes. This will ensure that it reaches you. The purpose of this newsletter is to keep everyone informed of any schedule changes and share information with the families about their faith. So, our next newsletter (Nov/Dec) will be mailed at the end of October.

Panna Maria School Cleaning
by Gary Janecek
We had a fabulous turnout on October 2nd for the cleaning of the Panna Maria School - the NEW location for CCD CLasses. I will try to get some pictures posted soon.

A Note from Father Mariusz
Dear Friends! Do you believe in Angels? I know that I do, but do you truly believe that every one of you has his/her personal guardian given by God?
According to Catholic resource website "Catholic Culture", scripture states "Every person on earth has a guardian angel who watches and helps us in troubled times. Angelical guardianship begins at the moment of birth; prior to this, the child is protected by the mother's guardian angel. It continues throughout our whole life and ceases only when our probation on earth ends, namely, at the moment of death. Angels are servants and messengers from God. 'Angel' in Greek means messenger. In unseen ways the angels help us on our earthly pilgrimage by assisting us in work and study, helping us in temptation and protecting us from physical danger. Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life. The idea that each soul has assigned to it a personal guardian angel has been long accepted by the Church and is a truth of our faith. "It is a teaching of our faith that the providence of Almighty God cares for the souls of men by the means of angelic spirits. At birth each child of Adam receives as custodian and guide of the heavenly court, a member of that celestial hierarchy who adores before the throne of God. Homework: Remember to pray to your Guardian Angel!

Prayer to my Guardian Angel
Angel of God, my guardian dear,
To whom His love commits me here,
ever this day be at my side,
to light and guard, to rule and guide.
Amen.

October is Month of the Holy Rosary
In the Catholic Church, October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. The Holy Rosary is a precious gift from our Blessed Mother. Legend tells us that the Rosary was given to St. Dominic (a monk) from Spain in the 13th century by the Blessed Virgin Mary. She appeared to Dominic, holding a Rosary in her hand. She told him that the devotion of the Rosary would convert sinners and obtain great graces from God. She said, “This is the precious gift which I leave to you.” St. Dominic taught the people how to say the Rosary. Soon, more than one hundred thousand people were converted.

During the month of October, we will pray the rosary at 6:15 pm every Wednesday in the Church (instead of singing) before heading to our classes.
